Transponder keys and remote controls
Since the late 1990’s automotive manufacturers started to build in immobiliser systems into vehicles. These systems provide a higher level of security than cars once had. Respective keys to cars with these immobiliser systems have what is called a transponder chip in the head of the key. Now this chip communicates with the computer system in the vehicle and allows it to start.
Marion Locksmiths have a huge range of immobiliser keys and diagnostic software for a vast range of vehicles, available. We also offer new cut and programmed keys at competitive prices.
For older model cars fitted with aftermarket alarm and immobiliser systems we can also assist. We carry a wide range of both factory and after market remote controls suitable for most makes and models. If you are unsure whether your vehicle has either a factory fitted or aftermarket system, please don’t hesitate to visit our stores or give us a call. Both our store locations also stock a wide range of garage, gate and house alarm remotes compatible with most systems.
In late 2012 a new technological system was released on to the remote market. The K-Forge System operates in the same way your original remote works at the fraction of the price. It works by programming in the type of remote suitable for the model and make of the client’s car. It then follows out the standard programming procedure into the vehicle. Due to the advanced technology it is also capable of being synced to two separate vehicles, providing a two mode function for convenience.
Registered Key Systems
Registered key systems provide a higher level of security to a premise than typical key way systems. Locks can be master keyed to several different combinations allowing for building entrances to be tailored to the function and access requirements for each individual client.
Registered systems also limit the ability for any unauthorised people to duplicate keys. Predetermined people hold the authority over the system and must provide identification and a written document expressing the authorisation for the duplication of keys. For an example of the letter please press here. Most existing locks are compatible with our registered key system and we provide free on site quotes, further discussing which security options best suit you.
